Innovative AutoStore system goes live in Bergen op Zoom

Bleckmann, a leading expert in supply chain management for fashion and lifestyle brands, has unveiled its advanced automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS). Today, at its distribution centre in Bergen op Zoom (NL), the official ‘go-live’ of the fully integrated AutoStore solution was celebrated during a spectacular opening event.

Less space, more speed

The AutoStore system revolutionises traditional warehousing by using up to seven times less space while dramatically increasing storage capacity. This enables multiple customers’ SKUs to be stored simultaneously, reducing stock shortages and optimising fulfilment. Integrated and scalable

Beyond AutoStore, the Bergen-Op-Zoom site features an advanced conveyor system, carton erectors, and an autonomous packing line with carton height reduction. This Autostore solution supports later cut-off times for next-day delivery, intelligent demand forecasting, and rapid dispatch during peak periods. “The AutoStore system is designed for flexibility,” explained Kevin Paindeville, Director Warehouse Solutions and Innovation at Bleckmann. “We can scale up quickly for events like Black Friday without disrupting operations.”

Sustainability and Efficiency Gains

AutoStore also delivers sustainability benefits. Ten robots consume the same energy as a household vacuum cleaner and can operate in the dark, reducing energy use. The system minimises picking errors, improving quality and efficiency. The opening of the Bergen op Zoom DC strengthens Bleckmann’s position as a leading logistics partner in Europe. “We are proud to bring AutoStore to life here,” concluded Kevin. “This is again a key milestone in our automation and growth strategy, enabling safer, greener, and faster fulfilment for our clients and their customers.”
